R. Ackroyd’s article, ‘Isaiah I–XII: Presentation of a Prophet’ (1978), appeared which could be characterized as the other fundamental and influential contribution to this newly reopened debate. The comparison of these two works shows important basic agreements between the two scholars, in particular in the pronounced interest in the final form of the text; on the other hand each of them approaches this question in a totally different way.
